Health & Safety a Barrier?

Does Health & Safety prevent your organisation from running events?

We all know that the work of voluntary organisations and individual volunteers makes a valuable contribtuion to our everyday lives.

Health & Safety is often wrongly blamed for preventing organisations from running events and people from volunteering.   It should not be a barrier to volunteering activities.  Taking a sensible approach is the key

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has launched new online resources designed to help voluntary organisations understand when they have duties under health and safety law.

CIO's - the wait is not yet over.

We've been waiting for this new legal structure for the Sector for ages now. A CIO is a new legal form for charities enabling them to become incorporated organisations which are not companies and will involve them registering with the Charity Commission – not Companies House.  The CIO was created in response to charities requesting a new structure that could provide benefits of being a company without having to feel some of the burdens.

This structure has not yet been agreed by Parliament, but some guidance is available on the Charity Commission website.
